Posted: Updated:

Kearney –Good Samaritan Hospital, Good Samaritan Specialists and The Physician Network are pleased to announce the addition of Deborah Sheldon, nurse practitioner to their staff.

She specializes in palliative care and will see patients in the hospital and the clinic.

Sheldon earned a Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Kearney division, where she specialized in geriatrics. She has experience providing hospice care and counseling hospice patients and their families in symptom management and decision-making in relation to quality of life.

Palliative care improves the quality of life for those living with chronic and life-limiting illnesses such as heart and lung diseases, cancer, Parkinson's disease or ALS, often called Lou Gehrig's disease. The program is designed to help manage pain and other symptoms and assist patients in identifying realistic goals and plans for treatment.
