Firing of Accused Hall County Deputy Upheld

Posted: Updated:

A Hall County sheriff's deputy accused of stealing money from the county has had his firing upheld by the Hall County Sheriff's Department's Merit Commission.

Kevin Bombeck, 34, of Wood River, was fired Jan. 17 after being charged with felony theft in Hall County.

Bombeck appealed the decision, however the Merit Commission ruled against him Thursday.

Bombeck is accused of stealing money from the county from March 9 to October 1 of last year. He joined the department in August 2010.

The preliminary hearing has been set for March 22.
