Nebraska lawmakers will soon be meeting with state corrections officials to work on finding a solution for the state's overcrowded prisons.
Nebraska's nine prisons are currently at 145 percent of capacity.
Omaha Senator Brad Ashford says Nebraska could be forced to build a new
prison if it doesn't find a solution to the overcrowding.
Ashford believes one reason for the overcrowding in the prisons is because of the number of inmates who pose no threat to themselves or others who are in prison instead of being provided with community-based services.
