New Scam Focuses on Nebraska Tourism Industry

Posted: Updated:

A new phone scam is focusing on the Nebraska tourism industry.

Reports have come in saying a person claiming to be with the Nebraska Tourism Commission is asking to verify information for the next Nebraska Travel Guide and trying to scam money from them.

The scammer is reportedly telling businesses that a listing in the guide will cost $599. However, the commission wants to warn that they do not charge for inclusion in the travel guide. They warn that this person is not affiliated with Nebraska Tourism in anyway.

The Nebraska Tourism Commission does however have an intern, Megan, calling to collect 2012 attendance information. She will not be asking for money and is safe to share information with.
