Posted: Updated:

Three students from Kearney High School were among nearly 80 other students across Nebraska  announced as winners of the 16th annual Nebraska Young Artist awards.

Sydney Engberg and Lainey Russell were recognized for dance and Megan Jaeger was recognized for visual arts.

The Nebraska Young Artist Awards recognize 11th-grade students from Nebraska who are gifted in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and film and new media.

Students across the state who received awards from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts will get to participate in a day of activities April 3 at UNL.

Interested students sent in an application and example of their work for the faculty at the fine and performing arts college to look over.

A ceremony at the Sheldon Art Gallery will end the day filled with tours of the arts facilities, classes, and faculty meet and greets.
