A trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a California man wanted on drug charges after pulling him over on Interstate 80 near Lincoln.
Shane Barrett, 41, of Willits, Calif., was taken to Lancaster County Corrections for possession of a controlled substance as well as having an outstanding warrant in his name.
Around 2:30 a.m. Friday, a trooper stopped Barrett's 2000 Ford pickup near the Lincoln Airport Exit on the interstate for following too close.
The trooper's check of his driver license revealed an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant, out of Sonoma County, Calif. was for drug possession. The search of the truck found 40 packages of pot weighing 88 lbs hiding in two tool boxes in the bed of the pickup.
An unmarked bottle of hydrocodone tablets were also found in the cab of the pickup.
