Producers Across Nebraska Don't Get a Snow Day; Must Feed Livest - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

HOLDREGE, Neb. (AP) — Snowstorm or not, growing cattle must be fed.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jesse Landin is the feedlot manager at McClymont Feedyard, which sits about three miles southwest of Holdrege in south-central Nebraska.

Landin said early Thursday morning that he was on a tractor moving snow out of the feed alleys. He says a path has to be cleared so trucks can get through to put down feed for the 11,000 head of cattle.

Landin says about 7 inches have accumulated so far and that the snow is still falling.

Landin isn't concerned about the cattle, which remain outside in the snow, light winds and 20-degree temperature.

He says "they can handle it. They got good winter hair coats."
