American Red Cross office in Kearney is offering a babysitter training class for kids between the ages of 11 and 15 to learn skills to take care of younger children.
The course will teach how to care for infants and children, how to handle emergencies, ways to stay safe by recognizing safety and hygiene issues. The class will also provide training materials to take home as well as appropriate communication skills for talking with parents.
Learning materials used in the class include a compact emergency reference guide, an interactive
CD-ROM featuring an activity booklet with games songs, recipes and other
activities, an electronic babysitting client organizer and much more. These materials can be used once the child starts babysitting as a quick reference guide as well.
