Mel TillisCountry music singer Mel Tillis will be returning to the Nebraska State Fair's Heartland Event Center for two free concerts on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
The concerts are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and are free with a wristband. Tillis is returning to Grand Island after playing once show at the 2010 state fair, the fair's first year in Grand Island.
"In 2010, the Nebraska State Fair's first year in Grand Island, we signed Mel Tillis to only one show based on the crowds we experienced when the state fair was in Lincoln," said Chelsey Jungck, Nebraska State Fair events and entertainment director. "The response in Grand Island was so overwhelming; we simply weren't prepared for the hoards of fans. So, we're bringing Mel back for two shows so everyone has a chance to see him perform."
Those wanting reserved seat tickets for the concert may sign up for the State Fair Fan Club online.
