Quilts of Valor is a community service learning project in which volunteers make quilts and donate them to our service men and women around the world.
The purpose of the project is to honor military personnel.
In 2012, over 80 4-H quilts were donated to the National Quilts of Valor Foundation. Many of these quilts were sent to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
Sierha Beck and Jorjah Shimmin made quilts this past year as a part of their 4-H project for the Quilts of Valor and presented the quilts to their dads.
Sierha and Jorjah are first cousins and both of their dads are in the Army Reserves and have served in Iraq.
The girls work with their grandmother on the quilts and are planning to make another one this summer for the Quilts of Valor.
