North Platte - North Platte attorney Russ Jones has announced his candidacy for the Nebraska Legislature 42nd District, 2014 race.
The campaign committee, Russ Jones 2014, has been formed with Robert J. Meyer, a Certified Public Accountant, serving as Treasurer.
Jones says he intends to run a campaign that is focused on the "new" future.
He said "I will offer a different type of leadership. Raw. Real. Problem solving for the future generations. I greatly respect the generations before me."
"I have lived through my generation. Because of this, the obligation of my generation is to do right by the generation of my kids and their kids," said Jones. "Politics seems to have evolved into a self-serving arena. I will serve the people."
Russ Jones is a practicing attorney who was born in Lincoln. He attended Waverly Public High School and graduated in 1985.
In 1989, Jones graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He returned to Nebraska and graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University Of Nebraska College Of Law in 1992.
He has been practicing law in North Platte since 1994.
Jones is currently President of the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He served on the Lincoln County Convention and Visitors Board for eight years.
