Area church members reach out to another congregation as a show of support.
Church members gather for their annual soup luncheon fundraiser; not for their own benefit, but as an outreach for strangers.
It's an impromptu free will offering to help the United Methodist Church in Friend, Nebraska, after an early December fire burned the sanctuary.
Organizers say it's something that hits close to home.
"For a lot of us who were involved with this church, for many years that struck a chord because in the late 1960's this church burned down, so where we are right now was built following a fire," said fundraiser co-organizer Deb Schroeder. "So we wanted to help the Friend United Methodist Church because we know what it's like to go through a devastating fire."
The Shelton congregation will donate a projected $750 from Sunday's community fundraiser.
