Two people were arrested Sunday after a routine traffic stop lead to the seizure of over 24 pounds of marijuana.
A trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol stopped a white 2013 Chevy Suburban with Colorado plates around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The trooper pulled over the east-bound SUV near the Seward-Lancaster County line for a move-over violation.
The trooper reportedly smelled pot coming from the rented SUV and proceeded to search the vehicle. The search revealed approximately 24.8 pounds of marijuana packed in two plastic buckets inside a cardboard box in the cargo area.
The driver, 42-year-old Sadedra Williams, of North Las Vegas, Nev., and 29-year-old Marcus Smith, of Lynwood, Ill., were taken to Seward County Jail for conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
