A University of Nebraska-Kearney student is accused of lighting off a firecracker while the campus was on emergency alert as officials searched for a reported gunman.
Ann Castater, 20, met bond Monday, and is due in court March 15 facing multiple charges.
Castater faces a felony charge of possession of a destructive device along with misdemeanor charges for disturbing the peace and minor in possession.
A search of her room turned-up eight home-made destructive devices in her dorm along with two bottles of alcohol.
The incident occurred Feb. 17 after a male caller used a campus emergency phone to tell police he had a gun and intended to harm himself. Police were unable to locate the caller and the emergency alert was canceled following a search of the grounds.
