The Public is Invited to Watch BBQ Pros in Kearney

Kearney - Kearney's new Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned contest is "Heatin' Up the Bricks" at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds.
The contest will take place on March 23 and over 40 teams from seven states have registered to compete for the top cash prize in a four categories - brisket, pork, chicken and ribs.
Kearney's BBQ lovers are invited out to the fairgrounds on for the competition from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the first annual Smokin' Pit Party.
The Smokin' Pit Party is a chance for the public to watch professional pit-masters and enthusiasts compete during the most intense portion of a KCBS contest.
Competitors will work furiously, multi-tasking to get their smoked meats turned in on time and to perfection. Witness the teamwork, the solo BBQers and listen to Dave Lerbakken's hit solo show all while enjoying a sandwich and your favorite beverage.
The KCBS was created to celebrate, teach, preserve and promote BBQ as a culinary technique, sport and art form. This event is free and open to all ages.
