The Nebraska State Treasurer's Office has released the 2013 Unclaimed Property Report, which added the names of people with unclaimed property from calendar year 2012 through January 2013 to those from previous years.
According to State Treasurer Don Stenberg, his office is holding more than $125 million for more than 350,000 Nebraskans and former Nebraskans.
Stenberg urges all Nebraskans to check the report to see if the office may be holding something of theirs. "The search is well worth the time and effort," said Stenberg. "Many people are surprised at what they find and are grateful for the service."

Stenberg said January was a particularly productive month for his office. He reported that the Unclaimed Property Division returned $1.2 million to rightful owners in just that month alone.
Stenberg said many of those receiving property were able to put it to good use. "Money they didn't know they had went to
pay bills, buy season basketball tickets, repair a sewer line, celebrate
students' grades, and improve a rural community," he said.
Each name in the report is listed by last-known county of residence. Readers who find their names or the names of their businesses or of deceased relatives should use one of the following methods to file claims:
