A fatality has been reported in a fiery crash that took place east of Grand Island around 8:30 Thursday morning.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the driver of a Dodge pickup died at the scene of the accident. The driver's name has not yet been released.
Officials report that the pickup was heading eastbound between the Giltner and Grand Island exits on Interstate 80 when the truck drifted across the median into the path of a westbound semi truck.
The semi, driven by 29-year-old Joseph Donlan, of Wildwood, Georgia, struck the pickup head on and ended up in the north ditch. Both vehicles caught fire.
Traffic had to be diverted away from the scene for a while after accident.
