Kearney Elementary Schools to Receive Healthy School Awards - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

Six Kearney Public Schools elementary schools are to be recognized for the efforts to make their schools a healthier place by receiving a 'Healthy Schools' award.

The Nebraska Action for Healthy Kids has selected the schools because of their efforts to increase physical activity and improve nutrition for both students and staff members.

The schools receiving awards include:

• Buffalo Hills Elementary School,
  
• Central Elementary School,
  
• Kenwood Elementary School,
  
• Northeast Elementary,
  
• Glenwood Elementary School, and
  
• Windy Hills Elementary School.

In addition to receiving a "2013 Recognized School in Action" award, the schools will be featured in the 2013 "Nebraska Action for Healthy Kids Wellness Success Stories" booklet.
