A North Platte man is behind bars for attempted murder after allegedly running over a Colorado man and driving into a building.
Tanner Matthies, 20, was taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center Sunday morning on felony charges of attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault and criminal mischief.
Officers were called to Perkins Restaurant around 5 a.m. Sunday on reports of someone crashing into the building. Officers found Matthies in his Dodge pickup, which officials say had been driven through the front of the restaurant, striking a man.
Officials say Matthies had gotten into an argument with a 25-year-old Greeley, Colorado man. Matthies allegedly tried to harm the victim by running him over with the pickup. Matthies' pickup struck the victim and continued into the building causing extensive damage.
Authorities say the victim, whose name has not been released, suffered extensive injuries from the alleged attack.
