SANTIAGO, Chile, March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In a survey made by the prestigious British magazine Drinks International, Concha y Toro maintained its position as the World's Most Admired Wine Brand.
In anonymous voting carried out by international wine-industry experts, Concha y Toro obtained the largest number of nominations as the most admired wine brand, surpassing brands with proven track records like Torres, Penfolds, Cloudy Bay, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, Vega Sicilia and Kendall Jackson.
"A distinction of this kind shows the prestige and great image that the brand has reached at the global level, which is a reflection of years of work building the brand with a portfolio of exceptional wines. This fills us with pride and commits us to continue progressing in the direction we have given to the winery, which seeks to strengthen our position in the premium segment and higher-value categories," said Eduardo Guilisasti, CEO of Vina Concha y Toro.
For its part, the magazine Drinks International commented that "for the third consecutive time, Concha y Toro tops the Most Admired Wine Brands poll. It's a staggering achievement, displaying the sort of consistency that devotees of the brand have come to expect from the winemakers behind Chile's most famous export. In this third year, the Most Admired Brand has become a reliable measure of the way that the industry refers to its principal players, so we congratulate all the brands that managed to position themselves in this ranking and unique project."
The members of the group of experts forming the jury included Masters of Wines, advisers, winemakers, wine writers, buyers, educators and analysts, and this year incorporated more personalities from the emerging Asian markets in order to give a more balanced look to the panel and reflect the explosive growth that wine is experiencing in that region.
The jury was asked to vote for the 6 most admired wine brands on the basis of the following criteria:
