Lincoln – You might think of green on St. Patty's Day but the Nebraska State Patrol also wants blue and red on your mind.
High visibility patrols, multi-agency checkpoints and DUI checkpoints will be held by the NSP in an effort to reduce the potential for incidents of drinking and driving over the St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend.
Troopers and Communication Specialists will put in overtime hours beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday as they work to lower the risk of serious injury and fatality crashes caused by impaired drivers.
A $19,040 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) will help pay for the special enforcement efforts. For specific information about enforcement activities in your area, please call your nearest NSP Troop Area Headquarters.
