Consumers on Who Would Have Bowled Better - Republicans vs. Democrats; Number One Poll Response: "Just Get Along with Each Other!"

ARLINGTON, Texas, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The "bowling lobby" has spoken – and the resounding response among Americans to the cancelled bowling trip for the freshmen class of Congress is to end the bi-partisan bickering and "just get along." The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), the bowling industry's premier trade organization, announced today the results of a nationwide survey asking the question, who would have bowled better – Republicans or Democrats.  Respondents were split on the answer with 19% voting for both parties – but the most common response (62%) was that the winner didn't matter and that congressmen "just need to get along with each other".

The survey was conducted following an announcement that the freshmen class of the 113th Congress had recently cancelled previous plans to conduct a bi-partisan bowling trip to foster friendliness and collaboration across party lines.  The general population survey of more than 2,100 Americans was conducted via an online poll between the dates of February 27 and March 1, 2013.

"The purpose of the survey was to conduct a lighthearted assessment to take the nation's pulse on the decision by this class of freshmen Congressmen to cancel their bowling outing and gauge people's opinion on who would have won," said Steve Johnson, executive director of BPAA. "The 'bowling lobby' has spoken and the response is loud and clear – people care less about which party would win or lose – and more about seeing the job get done right."
