Seward County Approves $6.85 Million Bond Issue - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

UTICA, Neb. (AP) — Voters in Seward County's Centennial School District have approved a $6.85 million bond issue to pay for new classrooms, a gym and other facility upgrades.

The Seward County Clerk's office said Tuesday that 678 people voted for the bond issue, with 430 voting against.

The York News-Times says the project includes new junior and high school science classrooms; a new vocational ag classroom and shop; a new industrial tech classroom, lab and shop; and locker rooms with the new gym. The locker rooms will serve as tornado shelters.

The bond issue will raise property taxes about 1.7 cents per $100 of valuation.
