One big family looking out for each other... that's what the VFW strives for as they help veterans in times of need.
Sunday, Kearney's VFW Post 759 held its annual pancake feed to do just that. This fundraiser adds money to the benevolence fund, which helps local and traveling veterans.
Whether it's emotional support or car problems, officials say every dollar of support is important.
"Few hundred dollars can go a long way sometimes. If it's helping a veteran with a meal, or $20 worth of gas," said post commander James Lutz. "Giving someone a ride to the Vet's Home or Vet's Hospital who needs a ride, those are things we do with that."
Sunday's pancake feed, along with the bake sale from the Ladies' Auxiliary, brought in over $570.
