Chadron Man Sentenced to 60-90 Years in Molestation, Porn Case - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

CHADRON, Neb. (AP) — A 31-year-old Nebraska Panhandle man has been given 60 to 90 years in prison on molestation and porn convictions.

James "Jim" Savery, of Chadron, was sentenced on Tuesday in Dawes County District Court.

Savery pleaded no contest in February to two counts of attempted sexual assault of a child and one of visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct. Prosecutors had lowered the sex assault charge, dismissed a third count and added the porn charge in exchange for Savery's pleas.

Savery asked Judge Travis O'Gorman for mercy on Tuesday, but the judge declined and said the case was "a story of betrayal."

Savery was given consecutive sentences of 20 to 30 years on each count.
