Robert Schafer Appointed to University Board of Regents - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

Gov. Dave Heineman announced Wednesday that he has appointed Robert Schafer of Beatrice to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Schafer, an attorney, member of the Nebraska Air National Guard and agriculture community member, will represent the District 5 seat in the southeastern portion of the state.

Schafer, 45, currently serves as an attorney and managing partner at Carlson, Schafer and Davis, a law firm in Beatrice.

Schafer is also the owner and operator of a farm in Pawnee County. He owns cattle and is also a member and director of a swine operation in Iowa.

Schafer earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

Schafer will serve in this seat until the 2014 election.
