Gov. Heineman Appoints C. Jo Petersen as 5th Judicial District County Judge

Gov. Dave Heineman has appointed a new county judge for the 5th Judicial District following the retirement of Judge Gerald Rouse.

C. Jo Petersen of Beaver Crossing will fill the seat that covers Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward and York counties.

Petersen, 52, currently serves as Deputy County Attorney for Saunders and Hamilton counties and works in a private practice focusing on general law. She is president of the Nebraska County Attorneys Association and is a mentor with the Cather Circle through the University of Nebraska.

Petersen received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
