The Broken Bow man who was found guilty last month of shooting at a patrol car has been sentenced to 5-10 years in prison.
Trent Esch was sentenced in Custer County District Court Thursday to 5-7 years in prison for using a firearm to commit a felony and 2-3 years for criminal mischief. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Esch was found guilty in February of shooting at the empty patrol car
of Custer County Deputy Sheriff Dan Spanel.
Prosecutors said Esch appeared to have a personal vendetta against
Spanel, who arrested him after a violation of his probation terms.
