The 17th annual "Easter Basket" Extravaganza, presented by Project Hunger, hopes to raise both money and awareness to fight hunger. The silent auction and raffle on Saturday March 23 at the Conestoga Mall in Grand Island will start at 10 a.m. with final bids at 3 p.m.
"Our goal this year is to raise 20,000 dollars," said Jay Wren, chairman of the Project Hunger Easter Basket Committee. "As always, we have received tremendous support from businesses, churches, organizations and individuals. The variety of baskets for auction is always amazing. There is something for everyone."
The baskets will be on display at the south concourse of
the Conestoga Mall.
"We will be putting baskets together at Conestoga mall starting Monday the 18th," said Wren. "Anyone who would like to drop off their basket or donation can stop by between 6 and 8 p.m."
Proceeds from the "Easter Basket Extravaganza" stay in the community to help stock the Community Food Pantry, and provide food for the Food Bucks Program, Salvation Army Kitchen, Hope Harbor, Department of Health & Human Services Gap Program, Food For Thought, Crossroads Rescue Mission, and Project Hunger's Gathering Table.
