State Senator Meets With Hastings Constituents

Posted: Updated:

Death penalty laws, tax changes, and revamping the juvenile justice system. These are just a taste of what the Nebraska Unicameral is up against this year, and they're only about half–way through.

State Senator Les Seiler met with constituents at Kitty's Roadhouse in Hastings Saturday morning, giving input and taking questions on these and other pressing issues in the legislature.

A lot of the lawmaker's focus is still on the budget; and even with both the governor's tax proposals being shot down, that doesn't mean ideas aren't being tossed around.

"The 613 study to be done was passed last week, and that's the way it should be," said State Senator Les Seiler. "Before we do a complete overhaul, we need to just study it before we make the overhaul, and that'll be this summer."

Saturday's meal was hosted by the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce, and Farm Bureau Agency.
