Grand Island residents are being asked to offer input on the use grant money to be used in various neighborhoods throughout the city. The city received $15,000 to perform a needs assessment strategy for possible future grants.
Two meetings will be held in April to give community members a chance to be involved with creating an action strategy. The first meeting will be held April 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Island Library, 211 N. Washington St. The second meeting will be held April 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School, 805 N. Beal St.

Money from the Community Development Block Grant has been used in the past for upgrades to sidewalks, sewers and roads, as well as energy efficiency improvements.
Once the needs assessment is complete, the city of Grand Island will apply for three phases of CDBG funds with the potential of receiving $270,000 per phase.
The meetings are open to the public with homeowners and business owners strongly encouraged to attend.
