"Dine To Donate" Helps Make Wishes Come True

Posted: Updated:

That next burger, french fry and yogurt order could help make a child's dream come true.

From April 2-5, UNK student athletes representing all sports programs will be at four different restaurants throughout Kearney.

It's the 4th annual "Dine To Donate" event, giving athletes a chance to mingle with the community and help grant wishes to local kids through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Organizers say it's a great way for the students to say thanks to their supporters.

"We have so many people cheering us on, and for us to raise money for these children that are... that have life threatening illnesses," said UNK Associate Athletic Director Jaime Lundgren. "We're able to cheer them on in their life, you know, by helping their wish get granted. That's really what's kind of cool."

Ten percent of all "Dine To Donate" proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish to grant wishes to local children.

REPORTER'S NOTES: The restaurants and schedules for "Dine To Donate" are as follows:

  • April 2 - Runza North and South 5-8 p.m.
  • April 3 - Topperz 6-9 p.m.
  • April 4 - Dickey's BBQ 6-9 p.m.
