The Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Roads have closed access to Interstate 80 for westbound vehicles from Kearney to the Wyoming line.
Colonel David Sankey, superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol says there is just no where for those westbound vehicles to go because of the tough conditions in the western part of the state.
He said, "Road crews are working hard
to re-open the interstate, but they are dealing with large amounts of heavy
snow, coupled with blowing and drifting."
Eastbound lanes have been re-opened from Big Springs on, but the patrol warns that winter travel conditions still exist, so caution should be exercised.
