Miller Dairy Fined Over Wastewater Discharge

Posted: Updated:

MILLER, Neb. (AP) — State environmental regulators have fined a central Nebraska dairy for a wastewater discharge into a state waterway.

Wood River Dairy, of Miller, didn't report the discharge within 24 hours, as required. The incident occurred on Feb. 29, 2012.

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality also says the dairy violated a 2010 department order that the dairy comply with environmental statutes and regulations for a period of two years.

If the dairy doesn't violate the Nebraska Protection Act or the Nebraska Livestock Management Act over the next year, $20,000 of the penalty will be waived.

The dairy also is known as Aspen Dairy.
