MILLER, Neb. (AP) — State
environmental regulators have fined a central Nebraska dairy for a
wastewater discharge into a state waterway.
Wood River Dairy, of Miller, didn't
report the discharge within 24 hours, as required. The incident occurred
on Feb. 29, 2012.
The Nebraska Department of Environmental
Quality also says the dairy violated a 2010 department order that the
dairy comply with environmental statutes and regulations for a period of
If the dairy doesn't violate the Nebraska Protection
Act or the Nebraska Livestock Management Act over the next year, $20,000
of the penalty will be waived.
The dairy also is known as Aspen Dairy.
