A total of 12 Buffalo County businesses were found to be non-compliant Friday after selling alcohol to minors, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.
The agency worked with the Buffalo County Sheriff's office and the Kearney Police Department to conduct compliance checks at 86 alcohol retailers in Buffalo and Sherman Counties.
Compliance checks are done to ensure that businesses are following the state's youth alcohol laws as well as to help determine the extent of youth-alcohol related problems.
Convenience, liquor and grocery stores as well as restaurants
and bars are all included in the compliance checks.
A $2,300 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety was used to help fund the extra enforcement effort.
