Nebraska Public Power District is asking for photos from amateur photographers to use in its 2014 Public Power Calendar.
Submissions for a chance to be on the front cover or representing one of the months in the calendar have already begun and will run until August 1.
Each submission should be based on the contest's theme: "There is power in . . .". The contest is open to customers in communities served by NPPD and the wholesale partner utilities that purchase the power that NPPD generates. Go to www.nppd.com/about-us/who-we-serve to see a complete list of the eligible communities.
Submitted photos must come from amateur photographers, meaning they have never accepted money for their photography. There is a limit of four submissions per person, and only one photo may win per person.
The utility is looking for outdoor themes of scenes within the state of Nebraska and must not contain any people as the primary subject.
For a complete list of rules, go to www.nppd.com/photocontest.
The calendar aims to engage customers with their local public power utility, increase their knowledge of Nebraska's unique public power system, and provide meaningful tips on energy efficiency that can be used in residences, commercial businesses, or agricultural operations.
