Fort Kearny State Recreation Area is holding their annual Outdoor Discover Day Saturday, May 11. Attendees will get a chance to experience many different outdoor activities for free, but an annual or daily park entry pass is needed to get into the park. Leashed dogs are also invited to the event. There will be dog competitions held during the event. Go to outdoornebraska.org for more information.
There will be a chance on Saturday, May 18 to go get in to any state park for free, no permit required. Interested individuals will also be allowed to fish without a permit. Many parks will be hosting special events for this day, such as fishing clinics.
