Grand Island YMCA Expands to Meet City's Growing Population

Posted: Updated:

The YMCA of Grand Island saw a need to grow and expand to meet the demands of a city with a growing population.

The Grand Island YMCA Express expanded and, unlike before, is now open to all its members with no extra charge.

Anna Gardine, health and wellness manager, said the new branch will help reach a growing population in the north west side of Grand Island.

With the addition of child watch, lockers, new equipment and more fitness classes, Gardine said, "Members can come here and be successful."

Since the opening, officials say membership numbers have increased.

Members now have the option of using both the downtown and northwest branch of the YMCA.

The YMCA is open to all and offers financial assistance with membership for those in need.
