Storms Damage Crops, Too Late to Replant but Farmers Hopeful

Posted: Updated:

Crops took a beating in Phelps County from Sunday night's storms.

Noticeable damage to corn and soybean fields was reported throughout the area.

Farmers think they may have lost a few plants and say it's too late to try to replant corn. However, a layer of fungicide could help the plants pull through the damage.

Phelps County Emergency Manager Pat Gerdes says there is a lot of cleaning up still ahead.

Gerdes encourages anyone caught on roadways during severe weather to keep driving or pull over and stay in their car. Getting out to watch the storm is ill advised and dangerous.
