Shorter Holiday Weekend Means Fewer Plan to Travel

Posted: Updated:

AAA says fewer people plan to head out of town this year for the Fourth of July.

The organization estimates nearly 41-million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home from July 3rd to July 7th. That's almost a 300,000 person drop from last year's travel estimates.

AAA said the shorter holiday weekend this year could be to blame.

Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year, which means a four-day weekend, dropping from last year's five days.
