Something as simple as a refreshing drink does more than keep people cool on a hot summer day.
As people enjoy their lemonade while strolling along "The Bricks," a few youngsters learn how to conduct business and give back to the community.
The "Lemonade Stand Project" helps students in grades K-8th enhance their skills -- from counting change to customer service.
But the project doesn't just benefit the students, different organizations benefit from young entrepreneurs as well.
"I've learned that business is not just about money," said participant Emma Skiles. "But it's about helping who you want to help with the money that you raise."
The lemonade stands are sponsored by local downtown businesses. This is the second year that Kearney has participated in this program.
