This week we honor Army Specialist Michael Aaron Reeves who, his sister says, is a hero to the entire family.
Michael served in his first tour of duty in Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn from February to November of 2011.
He is currently stationed at Fort Hood in Texas where he is a tank gunner on the M1A1 Abram.
Before entering the army, Michael was a stand-out athlete at Elm Creek High School where he graduated in 2010. He plans to attend UNL when he returns home.
Michael was nominated by his older sister Brandy. She said he first spoke of joining the army at the age of four.
She says "he is our family's hero and we couldn't be prouder of the man and solder he's become. He is truly the proudest American I've ever met. He loves his country and honorably serves it."
She sends her love and says she can't wait for him to come home on Independence Day and feels like the luckiest sister on the planet.
Michael, thank you for your service to our country.
