Hastings Trail Run "Kick's the Conformity," Takes Place at Night
A unique running event in Hastings is challenging runners to "kick the conformity" and head out for a nighttime trail run instead of the normal Saturday morning 5K.
The Third Annual A Midsummer Night's Trail
Run is taking place July 13 through the Prairie Lake Recreation Area.
The 4-mile run will kick off at 9:04 p.m., with participants navigating an off-road course through nature surroundings at night.
Race officials encourage runners to bring their own headlamps or flashlights to light the path.
"Last year's pool of runners hailed from over forty Nebraskan
cities and several surrounding states," commented founder Jed Kautz, "and we
expect to have a record-breaking number of participants this year. Plus
we've added distance as a fun challenge for returners and newbies alike."
Participants will receive a limited edition 2013 Dri-Fit Technical
shirt, post-race party with live entertainment, plus drawings and sponsor giveaways.
Registration for the run closes Friday, July 5. It is $30 to register before June 27 and $40 after.
