Community Olympics Event Starts Friday

The 18th Annual Community Olympic Games in Kearney is scheduled to start Friday, with 40 different teams registered to take part in various events around town.

This year the Community Olympics event is working to raise money for a specific cause: the Team Jack Foundation, an organization created to combat pediatric brain cancer through research.

Jack Hoffman, for whom the organization is named, is scheduled to be a guest at the games closing ceremonies on Sunday.

Here is a complete schedule of this weekend's events (Finishing times are approximate):

 

Friday, June 28

5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.             -- Piloxing (Pilates & Kickboxing), Harmon Park (near sand volleyball area) 

6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.             -- Men's and Women's 5-on-5 Tug-of-War, Harmon Park 

6:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.             -- Women's Singles Table Tennis Tourney #1, Horizon Middle School 

6:15 p.m. - 10:15 p.m.          -- Men's Doubles Tennis, Harmon & Sertoma Tennis Courts

7:45 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.             -- Women's Singles Table Tennis Tourney #2, Horizon Middle School
