Years of planning come down to the last four days of prep work for the Lincoln Highway Centennial, and the excitement is building.
From marker placements, to street banners, Kearney's preparation is in full effect as this 'Midway City' rolls out the red carpet for this weekend's celebration.
The excitement doesn't just end in Kearney; an ABC blog about the journey to Kearney's celebration has already seen over one million hits.
This centennial celebration is bringing out the history of the time when the highway was bustling as well as inspiring a feeling of patriotism.
"Seeing the flags going up I think downtown and the swags that business owners have purchased going up," said Kearney Visitor's Bureau's Sarah Focke. "There's a nostalgic feel going on and a patriotic feel, not only because 4th of July is approaching, but just for the entire event coming up."
The Lincoln Highway Centennial celebration will take place June 30 and July 1 at various locations throughout Kearney.
