Crowds Pack in for Chautauqua

History comes alive, as big crowds turn out to enjoy Chautauqua in Grand Island.

Mark Twain and Willa Cather were the big draws on Wednesday night, as an estimated 500 people came together under the big tent at Stuhr Museum.

All events are free and open to the public. Schedule is subject to change.

Evening Chautauqua tent shows are moderated by Mark Twain, portrayed by Warren Brown. The tent is located in Railroad Town at the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer, 3133 W. Highway 34. In case of inclement weather, tent programs will be held at Grand Island Northwest High School, 2710 N. North Road.

Adult workshops and youth workshops/activities will be held at the Grand Island Public Library, 211 N. Washington St. and are scheduled to last approximately one hour (unless otherwise noted). 

Youth workshops and activities at the library are intended for children in grades K-4 (unless otherwise noted).
