Veronica Ring – one of two so-called "Meth Moms" – has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for dealing methamphetamine out of the Kearney home she shared with five children.

Ring was convicted in March of one felony meth charge, after admitting to selling the drug to support her drug addiction.

Neighbors said they had their suspicions about possible drug activity in Ring and Sherri Burrows' home at 1920 15th Ave., and according to court records, police had followed up on reports about the women's alleged drug dealings in the past.

But investigations turned up nothing until last fall.

On November 9, police executed a search warrant on the trailer, and inside the women's bedrooms found safes filled with 10 ounces of meth, marijuana, various drug paraphernalia, a list of suspected drug buyers and lockboxes full of cash.

Also living in the home were the women's five young children, ranging in age from 7 to 13.

But for nearly two weeks, 38–year–old Burrows and 32–year–old Ring were nowhere to be found.

They were finally arrested on November 26 and later charged, and in March, Ring pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of meth with intent to distribute, saying that she committed the crime to support her addiction to the drug.

A federal judge Friday sentenced Ring to five years in prison – with credit for the time she has already served. She was also ordered to complete a 500–hour drug treatment program, and once released, will serve another four years of supervised release.

Burrows has pleaded not guilty to five felony charges, and will make her final plea next month.

Ring will surrender to the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin her sentence on September 25.

All five children were placed in protective custody after their mothers' arrests, but no word on where they are now.

A message left a message for Ring's attorney Friday wasn't immediately returned.
