Public Meeting Scheduled for Review of Railroad Buttes Proposed Improvements

Posted: Updated:

A public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday to discuss proposed improvements for the Railroad Buttes recreational area.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, July 24 at the RAMKOTA Best Western in Rapid City from noon to 8 p.m.

"Railroad Buttes is one of our most popular recreational areas," shared Mike McNeill, Fall River District Ranger. "We want the public to get involved and comment on planned improvements at the site including adding gravel, picnic tables, public toilets, and a Kiosk for information sharing at the main parking area."

McNeill says the plans also include unloading facilities and a "Tot Lot" for beginning riders to safely gain riding experience.

The purpose of the meeting is to give the pubic a chance to learn more about the proposed changes, review maps and share comments. Comments must be received within 30 days from July 11 to be considered in the final analysis for the plan.

Interested individuals can visit the Fall River Ranger District office, 1801 Hwy 18 Truck Bypass in Hot Springs, to view maps and information from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call 605.745.4107.

A notice of proposed action is also available on-line at http://www/fs/
