Two residents of a North Platte group home for at-risk boys have been charged with stabbing two of the home's employees.

Each of the boys was charged with attempted first-degree murder, use of a deadly weapon, escape and theft. Bail has been set at $2 million each.

One of the boys, 18-year-old Keenan Lambert, of Miller, was a state ward who had been placed at the Nebraska Youth Center by Buffalo County authorities. The other boy, a 16-year-old from Hastings, was placed there by Adams County authorities.

Early Tuesday morning, officers from the North Platte Police Department responded to the Nebraska Youth Center following reports of a double stabbing of youth center staff.

Officers arrived at the facility to find Diana Johns and Robin Schneider with stab wounds. Both women were transported to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center for medical treatment with injuries deemed to be non-life-threatening at the time.

Authorities say the suspects fled the scene in Schneider's stolen Dodge Avenger and were later apprehended heading down Interstate 80.
