Law enforcement officers will be out in full force during the upcoming Kearney Cruise Nite festivities.
The Nebraska State Patrol will be working with the Kearney Police Department and Buffalo County Sheriff's Office to conduct special enforcement efforts July 19-20 in Kearney.
Kearney Cruise Nite draws hundreds of people to Kearney to check out cars of all makes, models and years. The event runs July 17-21 with many different events taking place around town.
Officers will be conducting high visibility patrols and DUI checkpoints during the evening and early morning hours Friday and Saturday when the majority of people will be joining in on the Cruise Nite festivities.
Last year, troopers arrested four drivers for driving while intoxicated and cites 37 juveniles for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
An $8,885 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will be used to help pay for the special enforcement.
